Crystal Vision Poem by Kendall Eley

Crystal vision is a condition that few people have
where they see things in a new light
and time gets cut in half
It seems, though
in these clips of heightened awareness
where things go so slow
that the person will find themselves choking on hopelessness
Because what they see is not the world they'd known to be so shaded as before;
It's much worse.
It's the same earth
But instead lying in its hearse
no longer hidden in the clouds and smoke
that was on God's behalf.
