Cycle Poem by Taylor Kylini

Cycle

When I'm away I think of you
I try to think positive thoughts,
but its harder.
The hugs, butterflies in my stomach,
Smiles and shy glances
Get lost in heartbreak and letdowns,
Mixed signals and confusion
Why do I still dare to hope?
Swimming in anticipation;
Drowning in disappointment
Am I strong?
Or just too blind to see the real you?
I can't understand it.
Then I see you and I know
All the bad memories
Fade in the back of my mind
It's like you put my mind on reset
I'm quick to forgive
Until you leave again
The memories
Come flooding back
I'm smiling, but
Underneath it all,
I'm desperately confused.
Then I think of you,
And the cycle starts over.
