Dahi Handi Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Dahi Handi

Dahi handi hanging,
Who will break it,
Say you,
O Govinda,
Dahi handi is hanging
By the pole?

The mood of celebration
We can mark,
The mood of rejoice,
The gathering of people
And the pyramid of men formed
By competitive teams
To reach the top
Or to bring it down.

A representation of
The mischief of Krishna
While attempting to steal curd and butter
From the hanging clay pots
Of the neighbourhood
And the women complaining against
To foster mother Yasoda
Which Nanda taking it otherwise
Had Yadoda told or not
When not so comfortable with that sometimes.
