Dark Of The Night Poem by Alfred Ramos

Dark Of The Night

Music box chimes
Rang out their rhymes
It offset the slaps
Of the closing mousetraps
The creaking staircase
The crackling fireplace
Set the mood for the dark of the night
The moon seemed on fire
As it got higher and higher
Candle flames flew
Sneaky shadows grew
The feeling was tense
The air smelled of incense
Just right for the dark of the night
The wind came in racing
The bulter was pacing
The clock ticked off minutes
The crickets sang their duets
Light flashed through the keyhole
Hearts beating out of control
Losing themselves in the dark of the night
The chandelier swayed
The watchdog bayed
The velvet drapes did a dance
Bats flew by giving a glance
Sounds all around were suspicious
Even the black cat looked malicious
Things were looking up for Halloween night
