Darkest Hour Poem by Mellisa Salazar

Darkest Hour

I'm afraid of what you'll do
but I'm afraid to loose you too
So I️ choose not to say a thing to you
Staying up all night
Waiting for you to come back to the room
Pretending I️ don't know what you do
Because I️ don't want to loose you
Take the pain to keep you by my side
Keep a happy face
So you don't wonder why
I️ stay up staring at the moon all night
Trying to convince myself there's no reason to cry
I️ know that you lie
And I️ understand why
I️ wish you could see
The shade that you live in won't let you breathe
Won't let you be who you really want to be
The anchors on your feet aren't helping you see
Over the horizon to where you want to be
You're lying to yourself and you're lying to me
Take another hit and hide behind the weeds
And convince yourself you're free
I️ don't say a thing to you
And you don't say a thing to me
I'm watching you sinking to the bottom of the sea
And trying to hold onto me
I'm not afraid to feel the pain
But that doesn't mean I have to stay
I guess this is me saying I'm on my way
