Darkness Into Light Poem by Erica Stephens

Darkness Into Light

There was a time I walked in darkness, with shadows all around.
I hung my head in shame, my name drug into the ground.
My life had been took control of.
What had not been stolen from me, I gave everything away.
Where a heart once was a pill bottle now took its place.
In it laid all the answers to misfortune, pain and more.
Till the day it fell short, supplied me no more.
I cried out, I can't go on like this, and my knees hit the floor.
My life today is new, I have been reborn.
I no longer walk in darkness or in shame.
I hold my head up high, and I have repaired what was once torn.
Hope has been restored where misfortune and pain live no more.
I no longer serve a pill bottle, answers will never be found there.
I found what I had been searching for in the one who showed me favor. The one from up above.
He gave me all the answers and walks with me each day.
