Darling, Fly To Me Poem by Saif Bhuyan

Darling, Fly To Me

1.
And the next is frustration, lonely silence
Carrier, top, kite, cloud-tsunami, rainbow,
Trapped in an unbreakable maze.

I haven't seen you in so many years!
I remember your teenage, a water color portrait.

You couldn't talk without breaking into laughter.
Every time I touched your tender, jovial face
You stopped and asked me, ''What is it that you look for in me? ''

We used to loose ourselves by the pond
Or running in the orchard, rolling on the leaves
I remember them all.
We framed each other in our eyes
And looked at each other in a long single gaze
We drowned in one another's sight
Becoming one in blissful juvenile love.

The fireflies twinkled in the nights
And you cried hiding your face on my chest.
''What will happen to us now, Debu Da?
Oh, help out.''

But my eyes were full of dreams.
And I put myself in an exile.
I spread my wings to touch the Twin Towers.
Didn't have time to think about the rural girl.

I had made a promise to come back in two years, though.
Had told her she would be my bride wearing red.

My dreams are gone now, so is she.
Don't expect her to remember me either.

The seed of dream that was planted in the childhood days
How can I forget that face, those eyes?

2.
Both of us are full of newer hopes now.
Our world is filled with the chirping love birds.
I take thee, thine sorrows
And the gorges left behind from the pain.
I love you more than you love me.
