Daughter Poem by Alexander Foald

Daughter

A trance state of my mind
Looking at the eyes who stare back at me
Collision of thoughts cannot be avoided
And somehow, I understand it all at once

As I slowly move into her shadow
The moon starts to fade and then disappear
The soundless, sleepy night begins to fall behind
Leaving me completely vulnerable to her smile

Loud and fearful, pounding heart of mine
Watching her sleep through the night feels like heaven
Dreams, on the breast shaped pillow, laid down peacefully
While the ticking clock silently counts every second passing us by
