Dawning Poem by Robert Katuli

Dawning

I feel intense pain
Does anyone hear my crying in this noisy rain?
I also feel terribly alone
Is this really the breaking of dawn?

Like a woman in travail
I too also want to wail
For the fear has now been elevated to terror
How I wish you knew this isn't my error

Yea, it is just darkest towards dawn
The day light is surely about to be born
For I dimly can hear the dawn chorus
And these birds are singing just for us
