Day after

DAYS AFTER-30

Are you feeling lonely
Sad and melancholic
Apathetic towards
What is happening?

That is part of the game.
When you withdraw from the centre stage
When the idea creeps into mind that
You are no more in a position to deliver
You feel defeated and alienated.
In a world of give and take
You feel out of place

The problem with you
You have never looked beyond office,
Family and relationships.
The whole of your life has been spent
In taking care of a significant few
Their whims and fancies.

For the first time
You are for yourself
You are with yourself.
Do you need anyone else
Can anybody be a better friend
In the parade of naked self-interests?

Instead of writing poetry
In agony and strife
Awake to the reality
Still, you have plenty of life
Be the way you want to be
Live the way you like.
