DAYS AFTER-33

First innings
After your retirement
The situation is tailor-made
For a fitting display

This is your home ground
You have played
So many memorable innings here
Why are feeling shy?
You just need one more
To begin another illustrious career

The atmosphere is electrifying
The crowd is right behind
Their expectations are high
You are under pressure to deliver
You know! you are on a newly curated track
With uneven bounce
You are to come good
Against a formidable pace attack

Hold your nerve
You are the same you were
Do not let the circumstance dictate terms
Play your natural game
Be patient
A combination of defence and calculated aggression will see you through

You can better read the situation
Your legs may not be moving well
Your eyes may not be as sharp as used to be
But your experience will make up
For lack of quick reflexes
Just hang on, wait for lose balls
Runs will invariably come.

Hope! you will come good
Your patience and experience
Will see you through what people says
The darkest phase of life
You can not escape
So play the ball on merit
And accept the outcome with a smile on lips
