Dear Mom Poem by Olamide Olalekan

Dear Mom

Lying stretched out like a ladder,
Reminiscing on the dramas I caused my Mama,
in tears, my regrets was all I remembered.
Even though you smacked me, you always was a black sheen.

When I sick as a little kid, to keep me happy there is no limit to the things you did.
When I was low you were there for me,
you never left me alone bcuz you cared for me.

When it seems that am hopeless,
you say the words that will psych me off my loneliness,
Even though You abhorred my slothfulness,
Your finesse has a Mom brought out my acuteness.
When I viewed life with agnosticism,
You led me to the light & told me to believe in Him.
No woman can take my mamas place,
you were & will ever be my solo solace,
so I pray to the light(Allah) to shower you with his grace,
Even if its just for my case.

I appreciate the way you raised me & all the extra love that you gave me.
I know I cant pay you back, but I want you to know that I understand.
I love you Mom.
