Dear Mummy Poem by Annie Clarke

Dear Mummy

Rating: 3.0

I sit here
I sit here and cry
I sit here and wait for you id don't know why
Because I know my dinner is never coming
I know my PE shorts still rest in the shop
I know my bed won't be warm
and my bath won't be hot
I know you'll be dizzy
I know that you'll fall
I know that daddy will never ever call
my tummy is empty
my clothes are too small
but please remember
next time you change all the laws
that this isn't my fault
in fact I don't want it
I don't want it at all

a child is innocent
whether cared or ignored
a child can't change
their parents at all
a child must take
what is given
a child needs picking up when they fall
give them some water
give them some food
give them a chance to live
and grow tall
let them learn
let them play
give them somebody
who will always to say
I love you
I love you
I love you
everyday

never discriminate
or make them feel small
let them choose
who they are
a child grows up
and acts
as their taught
teach them that this worlds
not as bad as they thought

I sit here
I sit here and cry
I sit here and wait for you
I don't know why
I know that you're leaving
you're going away
I know that my school shirt
is not washed and all stained
I know that my friends is exactly exactly the same
I know that next Christmas
Santa won't come
and I know
that you'll be really really drunk
I know that later
you'll swear
and you'll bawl
I know you think hitting me doesn't hurt at all

I know I am innocent
I know I'm too small
I know a lot more than
most know at all
I know I'm too skinny
such a thing to be
full happy
such things fill my dreams

I sit here
I sit here and cry
I sit here and wait for you
I don't know why

Hi, Annie. Great Job. I love the rythm and the content, which are very very moving. Keep it up.
