Dear Susan Poem by Dean Hall

Dear Susan

On a bulldozed road in Mexico
on a cliff above the sea
I caught a fist-sized white butterfly
for you
and smothered it in ether

maybe you still have it somewhere
among your things
petrified and brittle.
