Death Poem by Lawrence Mbata

Death

Rating: 4.0

I have not come to please, but to displease;
I have come to prickle your souls;
For men shall stand but, fall at my sight.
I am myself Death, I end every existence.

You need not fear me, for I signed a treaty with your maker.
I am here and near, never far away.
To some, i end their painful nights;
to some, i take away from this dreadful earth, happiness.

I am not to blame for the pain i inflict,
I am just the opposite of Life;
we both are constant, for nature to play.
But, men choose to prefer life to me.

I am myself Death, I am nature's thorns.
Ask men what they have done.
They chose not to had valued Life;
they opened their hearts to my visit.

Why then blame me?
When men choose to live a reckless life.
Yes! some were not to go this soon.
But, only I, saw that horrific future that awaited them.

I am myself Death, so inevitable.
I am found everywhere just like your shadow.
Ask even the Plant's and Animal's;
all they would say is, 'We also die'.
