Death Calling Poem by Alfred Ramos

Death Calling

Rating: 1.5

She called for help from her dying bed
Her pain bouncing of the walls with dread

But no one would listen
Her fragility did not glisten

Her shrieks were chalkboard chilling
From every pore her last energy was spilling

Was she expressing her immediate fear
Knowing her time was near

But her pleas fell to deaf ears
Her moans, groans and tears

She could sense the angel of death
Was there to take her last breath

She did not want to face it alone
Yet no sympathy was shown

Have our hearts grown cold
Pain and sorrow left our soul

I searched up and down the hall
Hoping to see someone hearing her call

But then the elevator came
I rode it down with a bit shame

Knowing one day it might be me
When no one would hear my plea
