Death Of Venus Poem by Bobbie Othigo

Death Of Venus

I watch your face peaceful
Your eyes closed to sleep
The expression still beautiful
But your lid has finally slip
To open a new unto heaven’s sight
I know the angels are glad
Yet for me it has settled the night
You were the dearest friend I had.

The earth with tears I’ve wet
And many others along with me
In open ground I’ve madly wept
In your absence, what will I be!
Darling friend, you are stole
A gentle soul carried by heaven’s breeze
Free from earth’s unending toil
Oh love, finally it has come to seize
Grief piles on my little heart

Your anguish is no more
For that I silently rejoice
Pain that pierced you to the core
Pain too great to voice
It is all gone, forever gone
You never seemed ill
Always quick on your feet
You made us a home
I fear it was then God’s loving will

With God I cannot compete
I may cry and question aloud
But God’s love is most complete
In sadness I’m weary to laud
Still I know a precious truth
Of a love that never walked out
And this me it does sooth
God fashioned you, my treasure
His mysterious love was without measure

Afore me hang many a week
To turn soon to a month and year
Without you I feel weak
From the road I’m afraid to veer
With failing breath you made me swear
In strength I will always live
Your love I’ll ever wear
Sorrow out I will sieve
And keep only the joys of your memory.

Death brings new life
I have no fear in it
It brings to an end this strife
I’ll look with my heart brightly lit
In walking ahead of me
You washed away my distress,
Its dark mystery is but a lie
I’ll stare death in the eye
For I know it is but a portal
That will lead me to you

On your cheek a kiss I place
And at last bid you farewell,
I’m to keep on with my race
In my heart you shall always dwell,
With everyone I meet
I will speak of your gentle soul,
One day death shall seek me too
I will extend my arms wide
Wait for me by Peter’s side
In all I loved, I loved you most
