Death's Serenade Poem by Makayla Johnson

Death's Serenade

Rating: 5.0

Death's serenade
it's the dark and the rain,
it's the sky and the fallen sun.
It's the splash of a tear
past the heart and the fear
that lies in the sight of a gun.

He beacons and calls
so bright past the fall
of your own state of mind.
And he sings a great tune
from dusk until noon
removing the painful bind.

And oh how he sings!
And how his lyrics ring.
The world he sings so bright and new
so sprinkled with morning dew.
And he smiles, smiles to you
and tells you to take the gun.

Down a shadowed path of fear
lies the light that's drawing near
as he sings the joy of the moon.
Feel it in your empty heart
what you lost, had torn apart
and what he'll bring when he comes so soon.

Death's serenade
it's the dark and the rain,
it's the sky and the fallen sun.
It's the splash of a tear
past the heart and the fear
that lies in the sight of a gun.

The taunting and jeering
and torture of life
shall be gone without a fight.
Oh what suffer you've endured
and how the others never heard
while you screamed in agony
while you gasped and tried to breath
while no break would let you leave
the painful pit of life.

But he has mercy,
he has love
come to him, oh tortured one.
Come to him and never run
from the thing you yearn.
Feel the pain melt away
and yes, dear child, you may stay
but first, oh daughter,
first, oh son,
first you must
take the gun.
