'Death Stands Still' Poem by David Cleveland

'Death Stands Still'

Death is a place where time stands still.
Everything's blurry, nothing seems real.

And the voices you hear, they cry out in pain.
Screaming in agony, calling your name.

I know those cries; they come from my past.
How long can this go on? How long will it last?

So, I take a knife and look to the sky.
To make them stop, I know I must die.
