Death We Shall Offer You Poem by Ibrahim Obaretin Jr

Death We Shall Offer You

Why are you hear?
What was your goal?
You first caused volcanoes to erupt.
You crashed and destroyed the legends
Kobe and Chadwick Boseman.
Yet, you are still looking for more.
You have wrapped us in fear,
Drowned us with tears.
In our homes you caged us.

You came, wearing a garment of deception,
With colourful smiles and promises
Like the fireworks that welcome you in.
Now, you gave us a gift of death, diseases, and more
Evils held firmly to your arrogant breasts,
Snatching lives in thousands and millions.
Deception, Chaos, catastrophe are the marks on your ugly face.

Death we shall offer you too.
We wait and hope for your death to arrive.
The Big Ben waiting to chime still,
One, two, three, the countdown continues
Into a night that will not be celebrated with fireworks.
You have abused us in your town with apprehensions.
In God we trust: would 2021 be a better year?
