December's Cry Poem by Wilfred Mellers

December's Cry

Rating: 5.0

December's Cry

Gone are the sorrows, lies for a greater tomorrow.
Sunny skies shine no more, for dimmer are those lights that signal a greater day.
Do not cry those wasted tears of sorrow today;
The dawn rises, bringing an end to cloudy skies.
Do not weep, old sacred willow tree;
Lost is the child now going to the sea.
Radiant is the air that surrounds you,
Lifting your spirits to calmer shores as light takes you away.

Looking back on the times we spent together,
Let us not dwell on sadness but cherish the moments shared.
We cared and laughed, creating sweet memories of yesterday.
No more sweet melodies to ease my solitude;
Instead, I weep for what could have been,
Not thinking of what it was.
We yearn for your presence, but it is now denied,
Hopeful wishes fell on deaf ears, unfulfilled desires.

A storm is brewing gently into the night;
The luminescent fades as darkness looms with its eerie shadow.
It passes through, touching our so-called reality,
Laying a hand on our souls as it goes by.
Perilous is the journey we all must take to find our way home.

Cry for yesterday, cry for today, and cry for tomorrow as well.
Cry if you must, and cry if you want to.
Shed your tears for what could have been;
The dawn will still arrive tomorrow to shine once again.

We are transient in this realm of servitude.
Our hearts keep loved ones close,
For tomorrow holds no guarantees.
Though we may be gone, we are not forgotten.
Go forth, for we shall one day meet again.
Glorious will be the day of our reconciliation.
They will shine as long as they are remembered by those left behind,
In the very place our destinies lead.
Godspeed be with you.
