Deep Love Poem by Susan Gabriel

Deep Love

Young juices have evaporated and
deep love has begun to flourish.

My heart expands when dawn burns through mist
deep in the forest where moss and lichen breathe
drenched by the whimsical blessing of sudden rain
at the sight of a shooting star the moment I look up.

Before sleep I slowly excavate the time of white hot fever
when the candle flicker was made wild by gushes of our heat
and did not burn calm and straight as now

In a room of buddhas and kuan yins
that watch over my fourth chakra with
the greatest of care.
