Deepest Night Poem by Don Subba

Deepest Night

My sweet lover
Of the deepest night
You pull me closer
When the moon feels slight
I keep your name
Like a lit-up key
In my empty hand
Where it ought to be

Oh, come here slow
Don't let go now
The sky leans low
And the dark knows how
To steal the street
And blur the line
But your touch says
We'll be fine

My sweet lover of the deepest night
Oh, come and share your muse with me
For love is the key
For love is the key
And the rain is about to set in

There's a storm on the glass
At the edge of dawn
Every little vow
I was leaning on
Gets soft in your hands
Gets warm, then true
Like a match in the wind
When it finds you

Oh, come here close
Let the silence sway
If the thunder calls
We can slip away
To a hidden room
In the fold of time
Where your breath and mine
Start to rhyme

My sweet lover of the deepest night
Oh, come and share your muse with me
For love is the key
For love is the key
And the rain is about to set in

If the road goes black
I'll still follow
If the moon drops out
I'll still know
Your hands, your face
Your steady light
My sweet lover
Of the deepest night

My sweet lover of the deepest night
Oh, come and share your muse with me
For love is the key
For love is the key
And the rain is about to set in
My sweet lover of the deepest night
Oh, come and share your muse with me
