Defensive Clothing Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Defensive Clothing

That I be found as golden wheat
Equip me for the fight
From Jesus’ hand allow me eat
And fill my cup with Light

Within my soul let life be found
Let darkness raise her veil
Let wisdom lead to higher ground
Let truth no longer fail

Bring freedom to my heart and mind
Let strength run through my veins
Open my eyes allow me find
The key to folly’s chains

Your blood my God has caused my rise
Above my shameful gloom
Above the stench of Satan’s lies
Beyond their painful doom

To understand Your ways o Lord
So much I need acquire
With faithful shield and trusty sword
With love as my desire

Humility, I too must seek
With grace give peace divine
Support where yet You find me weak
And make great knowledge mine

Anointing oil I pray You pour
Till gone is self desire
Till standing strong a man of war
Drenched within Your Fire

With all these things I’ve come to learn
The need of Jesus’ hand
Without no woman’s child can turn
And live as always-planned
