Defer Delay Dilate Poem by Richard G Berg

Defer Delay Dilate

Defer delay
Dilate
Do not deal
Procrastinate, too late

Not now, next week
Sometime later
In the year

Will come back to that
I shall not ignore
Don't fear!

Put off, push aside
Pretend to do neither
Just abide

Send me more
Though I say less
Send me something
While I digress

Give me everything
You have to give
Give it time and time again
I shall give you promises
For as long as you shall live

Promises dry as rain
Promises to pluck at source
Promises to block the drain
Promises to buck a horse

Duck out dodge dissemble
Pretend that none
Of these are so
Take almost everything
And then drop in -
It's time to go

Understate a future date
Overstate the fact
That awareness of your let-downs
Is not a woman's tact

Ruminate ponder cogitate
Flash a lie of skin
Wink whilst knowing all too well
Insights sigh
At beauty's grin
