Degradation Poem by Infenity Covett

Degradation

You say it is degrading.
Repulsive, you pray, utterly inappropriate.
What a disgrace, indeed it is,
to laugh and drink,
and maybe have a smoke.
Oh yes, such a disgusting picture,
the low-bred of society,
the slam of the world,
the trash of the nation.
Scandalous!

I can not stand the thought of me,
rotting amongst these perfect creatures,
which have moral as impeccable
as truth-soaked the Bible is.
But I prefer, the gentle degradation,
the wine in my veins and the smoke in my lungs,
the thrill of being young
and stupid by choice.
Degradation is really just changing
to worse,
but I prefer to be slowly going down,
instead of running in a circle
drawn out by my parents' way of thinking.

And like an ancient Greek statue,
which slowly disintegrates,
I'll choose marble instead of flesh.
Yes, not some decaying organic matter
but rather a beautiful ruin.

So spit in my face
if you will.
More repulsive is your way of thinking.
Or maybe better yet,
your way of avoiding it.

Oh God if you can hear me,
and most of all - if you exist,
be kind to me and smite me!

Ah, and if you dare - rebuke me!
For only stupid mortals try to smite with morals,
those who are irresponsible and dumb by choice!
