Dele's Fours Poem by Victor Okechukwu Anyaegbuna

Dele's Fours

Rating: 5.0

And on Dele’s laps it exploded
Where angels sat, rested and played.
He fell, his legs dangled
Trailed only by his own blood.

Four minutes ‘fore came a fatal deal,
A letter in presidential seal.
Dele smiled away his bliss to mail
It cut and silenced his sail.

Four times four minutes paved
And Dele Giwa slowly caved
Slain to save dishonour
A dying nations rancour.

Four hours more and Power commits
A giant panel to find culprits.
Four days conspiracy and power denies
Its use before all the frightened eyes.

Four times three days aghast,
The nation weeps and wails the blast.
Four times five days laboured breath
Dele thronged to mother earth.

Nor four times ask again
Foul times fostered disdain
Did not WAI’s brutal four
Such sublime human rights succour?

Four times seven a beastly nation
Shall answer a lone generation
In these odd series shall strife
raise Dele Giwa back to life.
