Desert Blooms Not Meant To Be Flowers Poem by Arthur Di Tullio

Desert Blooms Not Meant To Be Flowers

There is a requiem in the desert
where flags have no meaning, really
where's god? when he's needed most
i think Claude Rains is god
he's missed Louisiana recently while sandy smoke blurrs
everything
let trained monkeys fight the damn thing
puddles of blood paint the numbers
let the egos fight, I'm sure then we would win
the trick is to stay alive but that gets tougher all the time
I'm a blatant coward but then I'm older and I've seen the parades
and the wheelchairs-no way
god should smoke pot and lay around contemplating

I married a woman who lost her true love in a Jungle far away
all of that pain is invisible, like god
are you listening
