Desert Lizard Poem by Vincent Onyeche

Desert Lizard

I am
A horned lizard
Wired
To naturally
Calculate
Before and
While I forage
Into the desert
In a midday heat.

I am
A lizard
Dwelling
In the dry
And drought desert
But I am fatter
Than many others
You may find
In the richest forest.

I am
A night lizard
Who don't
Chase after shadows
For I might
Be trapped…
While I forage in the desert,
I hunt for success
And I never quit.
