Desperate Friend. Poem by Monkals Kalu

Desperate Friend.

O Desperate Friend!

Today I weep for you.
I wish it never got to this;
Look how your light
Is fading by degrees
Into a gloomy cavern,
Making you so bluish.

The garishly sunlight
No longer look glitzy,
Your teeth now gnashes
At every blink of an eye.

O Desperate Friend!

Your ears now itch
For rumors more than
The mushroom itches
For decaying wood to live.
Lips are now careful
With the way they move,
Fingers now check again
For your pathetic despondency,
Before pointing in your direction.

O Desperate Friend!

Like the plea of a Nigerian
Kid to his mother, I implore
You; please be 'calming down'.
You've already moved
From once a rich smug,
To a risible rumor sieve,
Looking for who to call Hater.

O Desperate Friend!

Why bring depression
Upon yourself when you
Could ignore at no cost,
The balefulness of backbiters?
Now look how they've made you
Become a restless tail wagging puppy.
