Desperate Plea Poem by Susan A. Birowski

Desperate Plea

Rating: 0.5

Yesterday, I was just sitting there.
The TV news gave me quite a scare.
It seemed incredible to believe what was being said.
Shots fired, bombs exploded, several wounded or dead.
How on earth can this be?
Why do we target others needlessly?
We're different individuals, yet all the same
children of God, called by name.
Amidst the turmoil and the sorrow,
what will become of us tomorrow?
Put down your weapons and take my hand.
If you're in pain, I'll understand.
Stop the violence and devastation.
It's time to come together as a nation.
Pay attention to thought, word, and deed.
Acts of kindness are what we really need.
Open your eyes, my friend, to reality.
Peace begins with you and me.
