Detention

Tick, tock
Tick, tock
Goes the clock
As I’m sitting here
In silence,
In detention
Sixty-minutes of silence
Sixty-minutes of sitting
The clock slowly moving
Inching its way
Minute by minute
Sixty-minutes to
Sit here and write
Or watch the clock
Till it hits the twelve
The minute hand slowly
Edging itself closely to the time
One more minute to go
The minute hand sneaking
Up on the twelve slowly
Time is up!
No more silence
No more sitting
Freedom!
