Determination Poem by Shane Dickie

Determination

Determination deeply embeds inside my
Hungry, boiling veins, my heart feeds on
My veins' idea of nourishment, a food
Not edible yet in craving demand.

My eyes are in search of greater things
Its tears of anxiety falling
Like lead yet changed to tempered iron.

I am ready for the world; fear is a distant
Memory; it is miles away, No longer present
It taunts me not to visit either night or day.

I held my ground, my feet more sure than ever
Before of my purpose, my every step
Calculated, my body poised for action,
Flexed confidence.

I am equip with my body, mind and soul
In unison, every cell knows his place
His duty like an army fighting valiantly,
And will as my General.
