Canada Poem by Shane Dickie

Canada

Rating: 5.0

It's our nation's biggest secret,
How great our country is to live in.
Canada - your under-stated mascot-the beaver!
Canada - home to scenic landscapes and rugged
Mountains, abundant with fish and salty
Seas oceans and freshwater lakes; land of peace
And compromise; of diverse language and
Culture; of outdoor hockey and scenic ski slopes.

Canada - a people of strong moral fiber,
Of generosity and fair play, of diplomacy
And tolerance.

Oh Canada! A country that puts health first,
A country that seeks to help rather than condemn,
A country that seeks peace first before war.
A country of diplomacy and ethnic diversity.

Why can't we sing the songs of our country's past?
Why is there no glory here in the North?
Why are we too busy singing the glory of the land
To the South? Will someday the True North-
Will we stand on guard for thee?
