Devils On One's Shoulder Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Devils On One's Shoulder

Oft devils, will while on one's shoulder
Cunningly as common flies
Gradual, discretely, bolder
Deceitful spinning lies

While within, speaking and guiding
God's Word, Heaven will share
Revealing what Satan's hiding
Making the soul aware

Each child of God should understand
Such happenings are real
Both young and old in Jesus' hand
Devils will cheat and steal

Be wise, be true, seek goodly things
Wary open your door
Desire all salvation brings
Not as you did before

Child innocence is a virtue
God values in the free
With love and grace like morning dew
He'll place life's Guarantee

Also beware; we children fail
Singing one's old life's song
Pushing, pulling, to lure in jail
Devils will toil so long

So it's been for thousands of years
Devils struggle with man
Try sharing Christ joy and tears
For Heaven has a plan

Unlike Satan, God's everywhere
Almighty, righteous, true
Eternity willing to share
With such as me and you.....
