Diamond Fields Poem by Sangita Sultania

Diamond Fields

The queen barked an order
She shimmered to a wedding
And a dance to remember
Deft footsteps caressed a pebble
She offered an acceptance
The breeze fanned a breath
The wolf shook a rhythm
And drank its blood inside
Stalking the honeymoon island
A tiara eclipsed of stars
Waves rushed to eyes averted to a wall
The kingdom lay at the shore
A clock timed the invasion
She tossed a tide
Chasing the moon behind the pole star
The horizon dipped & she sang a cry
The queen roared & the wolf jumped
The moon was inside the wall
She reached out to the reflection
Mirrors in a heap
The blood was spilt & the day lay spent
An old door creaked
Beckoning to a road walked well
