Did You Know That? Poem by Eric Gibson

Did You Know That?

My chest flash-boils when hurtful
things are said toward me.
Did you know that?

I'm a charging roar with the
soul of a rose petal.

It's amazing the razors in a person's
words when they're uttered
then passed
through jungles of anonymous
proxy.

I fear my pride and ego command the
clumsy shuttle of my mouth.
Sometimes.

While,
In my mind,
I unfold lustful scenes of
animal tenderness
and shaking
shaking
walls,
ending with the breathless
punctuation of naked embrace.

Did you know that?

Did you know I'm a flame of
desire when you pounce me?

Do you know of my thoughts?
Of your hair clenched in the steel
of my fists
and my lips pouring hot atmospheres across
your neck?

Of course not.
You probably think I'm too
strange for passion.

My desire is an unsuspecting shadow.
An echoey and unexpected shriek
putting spasms in your heart and
erupting gasps from your lips.
A visit from all things exciting in
all places dark and shameful.

...Did you know that?
