As long as sports are televised,
I'll always fear the highlights.
ESPN tires me.
As long as chainsaws are Christmas gifts,
I'll never feel welcome in their conversation.
I'll always feel saddened and
separated with cultural distance.
I'll watch them like caged pets,
forced into routine and hapless
toil.
I fear being a 'male, '
nowadays.
I think of women as scented sacraments
with smiles
that reward.
I think of poetry and
beauty
and cries
and sighs
as the tiny carnival of life
we all pay to enjoy.
I say the most teasing things
to the women,
though.
Then the strangest thing happens,
they smirk and blink
and squirm
so coy,
and
life is perfect for a single moment.
