Didn'T Believe Poem by Heather Rhoden

You said forever and always
But it was a broken promise.
No matter what I did, you wouldn't stay.
To you, the truth didn't matter one bit.
To me, it was what could save our future.
But what killed me
Wasn't the words;
It was when you left.
I felt like I died
Because you believe a word I said
And I didn't understand why.
When he said those rumors about me
Being with him,
It was him you believed.
Then, a thought hit:
You didn't love me.
You just dragged me along.
I thought you were different from the others,
But I guess I was wrong.
Did it matter to you
How much it hurt
That you didn't see the truth?
He said he'd tear us apart,
No matter what.
He said one lie
And it took your trust
To kill me inside.
I am now a shell
Of who I used to be,
To burn in my own Hell
Because you didn't believe me.
