Dio Poem by John Ackerman

Dio

Ronald James Padovana
Born July 10th,1942
Cortland, New York
Early 1970's first band known as Elf,
Shortly after to follow after The Rianbow Band,
(1975-1978)
Rock band Black Sabbath 1982-1991

His height never bothered to stop him
Measurring at a cool five feet four inches..,
Through six decades;
His age was not important to him
Raised in quiet middle class community
Changing his name later from Padovana to Dio
Which in Italiam means God
"It was starting to rain, on the night when we first decided".
Rock and roll children
There will never be another one like Dio
I'm humbled just to write
Never mind write in his capacity
He's a true legend of rock & roll
It was just ten years ago
When I saw the famed Dio
The place in Hartford, Ct
It was at thei outdoor pavilion
known as the Meadows Music
With the first act being Motorhead
"The Ace Of Spades"

Next on their line up was this little man
As strange as it may seem
Filed up with vibrant melodic lyrics
Kind of a poetic genius in a sense
When Black Sabbath was out
What a perfect replacement for Ozzy
Having a rock and roll perfect hold
Raised 1,000,000 for starving Africans
In Hear & Aid
Popularized the hands horned gesture
A salute to a real legend Ronnie James Dio
