Direction Poem by Taressa Dunham

Direction

Some think of 'direction' as a big word with many letters.
It is, but not how they might think.
It is a big, powerful word.
Think of it as the directions of life.
There are so many directions you can choose.
There's who your parents want you to be,
You're teachers, your family, your friends,
Then, under everything,
Is the direction you want to go
The path you want to take in life.
Direction can always change.
You can want to go one way one minute,
And another way in the next.
Don't follow anyone else's direction just to please them
It never ends well
Do what you want to do
Make your own decisions about your direction in life
Be who you are, not who anyone else wants you to be.
Choose your direction,
Start walking,
But remember:
Nothing is permanent.
Good luck. Have faith.
