Dirty Suburban Factory Chimney Poem by Francis Duggan

Dirty Suburban Factory Chimney

Dirty suburban factory chimney puff black smoke to the sky
Filling the air with pollution and some grow sick and die
Of cancer and related illnesses that to pollution relate
When Governments create more work for people, suffering and death they too create.

The burning of fossil fuels for industry the environment pollute
And politicians in order to get re-elected they hedge around the truth
And they tell the voters we create more employment vote for us on voting day
Though for some to work in polluted environments the price too high to pay

Dirty suburban factory chimney filling the atmosphere with smoke
And I knew one who worked in such a factory a good hard working bloke
And at twenty nine he died of cancer from breathing in foul air
Leaving a wife and young daughter to grieve for him don't life seem so unfair.

Dirty suburban factory chimney puffing black smoke poisoning the atmosphere
And the advantage of such factories from politicians all we hear
But they never mention the health hazard that the burning of fossil fuels can cause
And against the billionaire pollutants the Governments don't pass laws.
