Distance Poem by Abbie Meadows

Distance

This distance between you and I is real.
It’s tearing us apart like hungry dogs.
I never really thought how this would feel.
Our love has been covered;
Vicious fogs-
So I decided to come visit you
And as I stepped outside I came to see:
The sky had started to ascend to blue,
The trees had grown into a verdant green,
The light was brightly shining on my face,
So I began to walk
-And walk, and walk.
I set myself a slow and steady pace.
From the sky I heard ticking like a clock
I realized I was running out of time
For light to be engulfing all the sky;
So I began to run, and jump,
-and climb,
And if I could have I would try to fly.
I looked up ahead and saw your face
Smiling back at me, bearing opened arms.
I ran to you and held you in embrace.
I threw my head back staring at the charm
I was finally finished with my chase.
