Distant Story Of..... Poem by Alex McCullough

Distant Story Of.....

Those words,
Which reached out and entised me,
Now hold me captive, even though I don't know how.
It sorta reminds me of that story,
Where the princess is trapped in the castle,
Waiting for her prince,
Though the two never seem to be reacquainted.
Somewhere tomorrow,
Will someone pick up,
The heavy burdens that we all are destined to carry,
Or will they move,
Over and Beyond,
Even if for a moment it isn't just a myth.
The me in the mirror,
Stands only still,
As it searches for happiness within money,
While the me right now,
Wanders around,
Trying to find meaning inside of the real me,
But I still don't know where you are,
Distant Mirage,
Please send me a message,
That I can grasp ahold to.
I'll wipe the tears shed away,
So I can see clearly what today holds for me,
Dearest life inside,
Take upon your cross,
And break out of this cage,
So you may have a place to fully spread your wings.
Something tells me to hold on,
Even if I'm destined to walk alone,
Higher than the stars,
That light has broken these bars,
Stronger than anything I've seen so far,
I can't be so thankful now,
But someday I'll lend you a hand.
