Distractions Poem by Sally Plumb Plumb

Distractions

Turn on the box
and lock your eyes,
become hypnotised
by whatever picture
traps you there.
Don't leave your chair....
don't tear yourself away.

If I had any say in the matter
I'd switch it off and natter
about the price of electricity
and the bill to pay.
Saying that, we can't talk
with the noise of the box,
so i'll walk the dog,
meet Pluto in the park,
be home before dark,
you won't notice I've gone
but Pluto will.

Until later, then....
when you'll want your supper
and I'm very tired.

Wire me into the box
and look at me!
See you later
aggravator.
