Do I Have The Right? Poem by Ganesh Veeraraghavan

Do I Have The Right?

How do I write my own obituary
If I haven't attained high dignity
A moment when I have flown to the skies
And touched the ether where pure truth lies
If I have fallen thereafter
I don't own it any longer
When it's truth final and pure
It's Me myself fully on offer
If it's not wholly sunk in
If I carry burden of sin
Then it's where a second remains
I will return to ruins again
If it's Truth which has taken over
Its ashes though look like ember
There is then no coming back
This body of flesh, one withering sack
If I have fallen thereafter
I don't own it any longer
The body then it's the real Me
Deep dark corners none can see
Then there is no obituary
I will lie forever in the mortuary…
