Doing Good On The Sabbath Poem by Geody Harman

Doing Good On The Sabbath

The Sabbath Day is for doing good, it's for serving you fellow mankind,
It's a time to reflect on all of God's gifts, a special sacred time.

Let all who would take up their crosses to bear, remember Jesus Christ,
He showed us the way, how to think, how to act, he paid our sinful price.

He healed on the sabbath, he lifted the lame, he taught from the scriptures with love.
Let us to our own families and neighbors impart, good will sent from up above.

Bring a treat and a scripture to a neighbor with love, Bring a basket of food or a gift.
Let your family and friends help to serve and to give, let your actions of service now lift.

For to bear his countenance in yours today, you must act in a manner of good.
You know that to want to is loving and kind, do what you know that you should!

Do it, don't wait till the day has gone by, let your children deliver his will!
Be good to your neighbors, be friends and be kind, Let actions of love now instill!

For what you may do is to help save a soul, your actions of love may just lift!
Their burdens of life may seem trivial then, when they humbly recieve your sweet gift.

So reach out and go out and serve them today, do some good on the sabbath for sure,
Help the widow, the orphan, the burdened the lost, let your faith and religion be pure.

For this is the pathway that's truely divine. God always imparts more to you!
Let your cup overflow, let your light shine and glow, let your God get the praise and what's due!
