Don'T Be Like My Father Poem by Anamika Romit Sharma

Don'T Be Like My Father

On the sidewalk,
Walking with you,
Hand in hand
I feel the pain...
Of remembering my father,
Feeling nostalgic,
I cant help myself,
Moments started flashing..
And mind went on a ride,
Of emotional rolar coaster,
On the sidewalk,
I can see his hand waving,
From open window of my school bus...
And feel his touch on forehead,
In illness and raising temperature,
But sooner or longer...
Cries, sobes and screems..
Make me frighten of thinking,
What's going behind the door..?
What's happening to my mother..? ?
I spend whole night there,
Outside the locked door,
I can still see myself weeping..!
Not a single word I able to utter,
Because of that terror..! !
Everything is calm,
When I awake,
But something within me,
Something between us,
Has broaken forever...
His every act of affection,
Now seems like entrapment of witch,
No doll help me stop thinking...
Of that terrible night,
No choclate make me forget..
Cries of my mother,
Touch of his hand,
Seems to kill me...
I am scared to die,
No longer my hero,
He seems like a horrible stranger..! !
All that echoing,
Even after years long,
Uptill now with same intensity...
Hurting my soul,
Like waves of stones in calm water..!
On the sidewalk...
Walking with you and our daughter,
I found the reason to smile...
You are not like my father,
Our daughter can proud her hero forever...
