Don'T Judge A Book By Its Cover Poem by Jessie Stevens

Don'T Judge A Book By Its Cover

People know me for my height,
They know me for being nice,
They know me for all of the years that I volunteered,

But the real question is “do you really know me? ”
And will you ever get a chance too,
I’ve been through more than you will ever know,

And the truth is you probably don’t give a damn,
About all of the things that I’ve been through,
People act like they care so people will like them,

To tell you the truth their just being insecure,
Because their probably not happy with themselves,
They’ve probably been through a lot,

So they mask it by making people feel better,
And you’ll probably ask “how do you know? ”
Because I’ve done it since I can remember,

I hide my pain by making people feel better,
Being there for a friend when she needs me the most,
And being there to listen to them, when no one else will,

You can tell me that I’m fake or whatever,
But just know that you haven’t got a clue,
About what I’ve been put through,

You don’t know what I’ve been told,
Or what I’ve seen because you never asked,
So take my advice and don’t judge a book by its cover!
