Don'T Let Yourself Be Lonely Poem by Linda Burns

Don'T Let Yourself Be Lonely

Babe, I have to go now.
You know I have no choice.
I thought I'd not ask for promises
But stay still and hear my voice.

Promise me.
Don't let yourself be lonely.
Take a hand when you need to.
Take a vow if it pleases you.
But don't let yourself be lonely.

I know love has not been fair to you.
You want so hard to believe.
Nothing is ever quite what you think it is
But you never thought to leave.

No.
That's not fair.
And now..
Don't let yourself be lonely.
Take a part for you that you can keep.
I'm beside you even though I sleep.
Please.
Don't let yourself be lonely.
